About the HYSB Hotchkiss Bearcat 5K Cross Country Challenge

Come and run on a beautiful and challenging cross-country 5K course on The Hotchkiss School campus in Lakeville. Completely on the campus of Hotchkiss...smooth grass cross country course...no roads! The event is scheduled to coincide with the Annual Fall Festival in Salisbury, so come for the race and enjoy the best our Connecticut Berkshires location has to offer, from leaf peeping to great restaurants, shopping, hiking, galleries and much more.  Events include chip timed 5K and 1K Youth races, and a tots fun run. Timing by Fast Track Timing. 

More than a race!

Children's activities will also include face painting by Hotchkiss art students, boomerang demonstrations, crafts, reptile demonstrations by Audubon, live music, and an Outdoor Leadership Program.

Free Food

Goodbody Cafe Lunch: Burgers featuring grass-fed beef from Whippoorwill Farm, Freebird all-natural chicken gyros, and veggie gyros. 

Free shuttle service

Ride free back and forth to the Salisbury Festival, where you can enjoy your free dessert (apple cider and cider donuts). Show your bib at the Festival for discounts at participating stores, up to 20% in some shops.  

Prizes 

  • Prizes for top 3 male and female overall winners. 
  • Age category times. 
  • Prizes for all 1K and fun run participants.
  • Long Sleeved BOA Tech T shirts to the first 300 5K registrants.
  • Cotton T shirts to children registered for the 1K and fun run if registered PRIOR to 9/28. (After 9/28/12 - t shirts as available) Fun run and youth 1K are FREE. Fun Run will Begin at 9:30 am, followed by the Youth 1K.

Fun Run starts at 9:30 a.m. (No fee)
1K chip-timed youth run begins at 9:40 a.m. (No fee)
5K begins at 10:00 a.m. (Adults, $20; Students, $15)

Please arrive one hour prior to race time to check in!

Net proceeds from the race will benefit the programs and services of the Housatonic Youth Service Bureau, serving the six towns of the Region One School District with free counseling, parent education, prevention programs and referrals. HYSB is a 501(c)3 non-profit. You can support HYSB here.
