Dining
The dining hall offers cafeteria-style service for three meals a day, seven days a week. Several vegetarian options are available at each meal. Religious dietary needs are accommodated, and to-go meals are provided for students who are ill. The snack bar serves a variety of made-to-order sandwiches and snacks and is open daily in between dining hall meals, and after dinner until check-in. Both the dining hall and the snack bar are located in the Main Building. For more information, visit the Dining Services Web site.
Health & Wellness
The Health Services department provides comprehensive health care for all members of the Hotchkiss community. Staffed 24 hours a day, the Wieler Infirmary has both day and overnight accommodations for students who require close supervision. The School’s physician sees students during daily clinic hours and is on call throughout the day, as is the School’s psychiatrist. Students who wish to discuss health-related issues are encouraged to meet with a counselor in the Health Services department. The School also employs two full-time athletic trainers to meet the needs of student athletes.

The Hotchkiss curriculum includes a Human Development Program required of all lower mids. The program provides Hotchkiss students with a common foundation of knowledge about their own personal development, their choices, and their health and well-being. The course provides a safe forum for discussion and information in which students become more able to think independently and communicate openly, and helps them to develop respect and understanding for social issues encompassing gender, cultural, and personal diversity. Selected through a formal application process, seniors are trained to work with lower mids and faculty instructors as teaching assistants.
Security
The Hotchkiss Security Office provides comprehensive service to insure the safety and well-being of the School community. The campus is patrolled 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and security personnel are reachable at all times.
Telecommunications & Computing
The main switchboard provides 24-hour contact with the School, and all students have phone lines in their rooms with individual voice-mail numbers, as well as Hotchkiss e-mail accounts on the School network.
Students receive school-issued MacBook Pro computers. Each student will use the same computer throughout his or her career at Hotchkiss. Each dormitory room is wired to provide students with high-speed access to the campus network and the Internet. There are also numerous school machines available for student use in the Watson Computing Center and the Edsel Ford Memorial Library. Additionally, the library has laptops available for students to borrow during the evening or overnight. For more information, please visit Information Technology Services.
Worship
The chaplain assists students in arranging rides to local houses of worship. In addition, the chaplaincy conducts or supports a variety of events on campus, including Bible study, Sunday worship services, Holy Week services, and a Yom Kippur break-fast meal at the chaplain’s home.
Other School Services
In addition to the above, Hotchkiss offers several services for student convenience including a bank, campus store, post office, laundry and dry cleaning service, summer storage service (through UPS), and access to driver’s education.
