How Do I...

Check something out?

  • If it’s a book or a DVD, just bring it to the front desk. If it’s on “Reserve,” it’s already there: just ask.
  • We also lend MacBooks, headphones, cords and dongles, cameras, tripods, graphing calculators, and even SparkFun Inventor’s Kits right from the front desk.
  • Books and CDs check out for 28 days. DVDs (and almost everything else) check out for one week.
  • To renew any materials, you can log in to your BearCat account, reply to the overdue notice, email Victoria Herow, or simply stop by the front desk.
  • Members of the local community can borrow almost all of our books and any of our CDs and DVDs.

Reserve a room for a group?

  • We have several spaces in the library that can be reserved for classes and meetings:
    • Large Viewing Room (equipped with SMART board, overhead projector, flat-screen TV, DVD/VCR)
    • Media Center (flat-screen TV, computers)
    • Small Viewing Room (flat-screen TV, DVD/VCR)
    • First floor (overhead projector, screen)
    • Mezzanine (flat-screen TV)
    • Group study rooms
  • You can use Apple TV on the flat screens: follow the instructions posted in the room or get help at the front desk.
  • For conference calls, contact ITS to request the necessary equipment.
  • Email library@hotchkiss.org for more information about scheduling a room or making a reservation.

Request something the library doesn't own?

If you need temporary access to a book or journal article, use the book request form or journal article request form. Turnaround time can range from few days to two weeks. Contact Victoria Herow for more information.
