Attention Applicants: Gateway to Prep School Online System
Please know that when submitting Graded Writing Samples and/or transcripts via Gateway, the upload file must be under 1MB. Also, the system will only take one file upload per form. If your recommenders are having issues with uploads, please have them fax the documents to: 860-435-0042, or scan/email the documents to admission@hotchkiss.org
We will accept your materials in any of the following ways: fax, scan/email, mailed via U.S. Postal Service or express carrier.
About the
Hotchkiss Online Application
- You can apply online by clicking the link at the bottom of the page. If you prefer to submit a paper application, a PDF version is available here. If you have specific questions about this,
please contact our office at (860) 435-3102.
- If you have already
submitted your Candidate Profile in hardcopy form, you must submit the
Candidate Project in that manner. If you have specific questions about this,
please contact our office at (860) 435-3102.
- The Hotchkiss Online Application is made up of the Candidate Profile, Candidate Project (including the Parent Statement), the Graded Writing Sample, and teacher recommendations, and is
created using the Gateway to Prep Schools system.
- Registering for an online account is free.
- You may work on your application over multiple sessions. In other words, you may save and
re-edit your application as many times as needed before submitting it.
- Prior to submitting the application, you must pay an application
fee via credit card or electronic check (U.S. banks only). The fee is $60 for U.S. residents; $100 for non-U.S. residents (to cover additional postage
costs).
Please note: The application
fee is higher for paper-based submissions.
- If the application fee will place an undue hardship on your
family, please call or email the Admission Office to discuss obtaining a fee
waiver.
- Once you have submitted your application, you may print a copy
for your records.
- If you are submitting a paper application, please note that school forms and teacher recommendations must be filled out on
paper and mailed to Hotchkiss. All
supplementary materials including the graded writing sample must be received

- Financial aid forms and materials must be received by January 31, 2013.
The
online application is only for students who are applying to enter Hotchkiss in
the fall of 2013.
