Mission Statement

Archives & Special Collections serves as a research laboratory for students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, and the wider community, supporting the School’s central goals of developing in students a lifelong love of learning, responsible citizenship and personal integrity. The Hotchkiss School Special Collections, including the fine and decorative arts, sculpture and rare books, exists because the School believes enjoyment, engagement and appreciation of the visual and decorative arts deepens our understanding of the world and ourselves while the School’s Archives serves as its institutional memory, the repository of records, documents, publications, photographs, audiovisual recordings and other archival materials related to the School and its campus life since 1891.
