Boys Cross Country Equals Best Finish at New Englands

by Roger Wistar

The boys cross country team tied their best ever overall finish with a third-place showing at the New England cross country championships on Nov. 11.

Racing on a hilly Choate course, the team was one of two teams with at least three runners in the top 20 places, a feat matched only by overall champion Andover. Leading the way for the Bearcats was Andrew Sidamon-Eristoff '19 in fifth place (16:21).

Also scoring for Hotchkiss were Kostia Howard '20 (11th at 16:42), Ryan Pinckney (18th at 16:57), Michael Duncan '19 (35th at 17:26), and Ian Gill '19 (42nd at 17:39).

The third-place result ties the previous best finish set in 2011.

Leading the way for the girls varsity was Grace Bristow '18 in 18th place (20:35), trailed closely behind by Annabel Wallace '21 (25th at 20:49) and Annabelle Burns '18 (30th at 20:58). Also scoring for Hotchkiss were Lucy Bulley '21 and Olivia Gee '18.

The team finished in seventh place at the event, which was won in dominant fashion by Deerfield, who placed all five of their top runners in the top 12 overall.

The top JV runners for Hotchkiss were Blake Cilmi '19 (18:24) and Rachel Mokriski '21 (22:48).
