Two set piece goals in the first half provided all the scoring in the game as the boys varsity soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw with visiting Trinity-Pawling on Oct. 25.
The Bearcats (3-7-2) dominated possession and controlled the point of attack for the majority of the afternoon, outshooting the Pride 41-4 and earning 18 corners without conceding one.
But the visitors would strike first in the 20th minute. After drawing a foul near the top of the 18-yard box, the T-P attacker launched a hard shot into the right side of the net to earn the 1-0 advantage.
The Bearcats would counter ten minutes later, after starting forward Gardner Bulkeley '19 was fouled from just outside the box. Starting halfback C.Y. Cheng '18 stepped up to the ball and curled a high arcing shot into the top-right corner of the net to tie the score at 1-1.
Bulkeley poured in five shots on the day, one of eight Bearcats with multiple shots. Starting forward Michael Leon '21 led all Hotchkiss players with 10 shots, seven on goal.
The game proved to be a physical affair, with the two teams combining for 30 fouls and six yellow cards. The Bearcats launched 23 shots in the second half, but only six were on target. The team had 11 corners in the half, with several good chances around the six-yard box, but the T-P goalie smothered or deflected every shot on goal.
On Saturday, the team travels to Loomis for a 3:30 p.m. start.
