Cross Country to Host Founders League Championships

by Roger Wistar

More than 500 cross country runners will descend on Lakeville this weekend for the Founders League championships on Saturday Nov. 5.

Bearcat runners have risen to the occasion the last two times that Hotchkiss has hosted a major end-of-year race. In 2014 at the New England championships, Carlota Corbella Alcantara '15 won the race for the girls, and Marco Quaroni '16 tied his own course record for Hotchkiss boys.

The last time the school hosted Founders in 2011, the girls won the team title and the boys finished second. They will be seeking an elusive first Founders title again after finishing only three points behind Loomis at last weekend's Williston Northampton Shaler Invitational race.

The two JV teams will kick off the afternoon, with the boys starting at 3:30 and the girls at 3:32 p.m. The varsity races will start soon after, with the girls at 4:10 p.m. and the boys varsity race at 4:40 p.m.
