The Hotchkiss School Director of Health Services
The Hotchkiss School seeks a dynamic and innovative Director of Health Services. Home to both medical and counseling services, Health Services is primarily designed to care for students but also serves as a resource for those working and living in the School community. On average, there are 10,000-11,000 visits each year to the Health Center; approximately 25% of our students meet with members of the counseling staff each year. Health Services collaborates closely with the Dean of Students, Class Deans, and students’ advisors.
The successful applicant will be a gifted manager and problem-solver. He or she will develop and articulate a strategic vision for Health Services, translate this vision into concrete objectives, oversee Health Services’ daily operations, help assess community health, and serve broadly as an advocate for wellbeing in the community.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop initiatives to enhance the community’s wellbeing and quality of life.
- Hold a key role on a team that includes the Medical Director, Director of Counseling, Director of Nurses, and School Psychiatrist; share supervision of 15-18 other Health Services employees.
- Manage an annual operating budget of $900,000 and two endowed funds.
- Promote and integrate Health Services as a resource throughout the community.
- Coordinate communication among Health Services, faculty, students, staff, and families.
- Serve on the School Leadership Team.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be clinically adept, with excellent professional experience and training, and familiar with adolescent development and independent school culture. A Master’s degree in a health field is preferred. He or she will be a grounded and inclusive visionary, with consummate skill in oral and written communication, able to collaborate with, lead, and manage varied constituencies. He or she will bring distinctive personal and professional energy, enthusiasm, and good humor to a community that holds high standards for good citizenship and hard work.
