The Hotchkiss Chorus will present its annual Festival of Lessons and Carols on Sunday evening, December 8, at 7:00 p.m in the Hotchkiss Chapel. A tradition at the school for 54 years, the candlelit, don-denominational festival is very popular with Hotchkiss students and residents of surrounding communities alike.

To some in the overflow audience that gathered last week in Harris House to hear Susan Cheever talk about E.E. Cummings, this noted, nonconformist 20th-century poet is familiar as a quirky lower-case heading in anthologies of American poetry. For the guest speaker, and at least one student present, his life and work has a stronger, more personal meaning.

Convenient access to New York City's museums means that an annual trip to the city is relatively simple--even if it includes 86 people! As program director of Art Brad Faus told attendees in their assignment handout, "An art field trip intentionally takes us away from our normal daily routine so that we may completely experience art and special architectural spaces." The School’s Central Heating Facility has captured two outstanding awards, adding to the wide recognition it has already received. The Connecticut Green Building Council chose the Hotchkiss biomass facility for its Alexion Award of Excellence. And, the facility won an Honor Award from both The American Institute of Architects New England and AIA Connecticut, the highest honors they bestow.

Since 1931, the Hotchkiss Alumni Association has honored 81 alumni with the Alumni Award. Selected by the Nominating Committee of the Board of Governors of the Alumni Association, each recipient, through personal achievement, has brought honor and distinction to him or herself and Hotchkiss. The Nominating/Awards Committee of the Alumni Board of Governors seeks candidates who have made significant contributions within their fields, and in so doing have earned the recognition of their peers on a national or international level.

Isaac Normesinu ’13 has been named the 2012-13 Gatorade Connecticut Boys Soccer Player of the Year, the first-ever selection from Hotchkiss.

The new Central Heating Facility is running smoothly for an installation of this size, according to Director of Buildings and Grounds William Peabody. A few small adjustments have been made to increase efficiency, he said, while reporting the following usage for the biomass facility, which went into use in the fall.
