Overview of Health Services

Health Services provides Hotchkiss students with comprehensive health care and counseling services. The medical services are staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by healthcare professionals. Our school physician is on 24-hour call for emergencies. When necessary, students may be admitted to the Infirmary for short-term observation during the day or for overnight care, or they may be referred to medical and surgical specialists at Sharon Hospital, located 5 miles away in Sharon, Connecticut.

Counseling

The counseling department is staffed by a board-certified psychiatrist and three counselors. Individual counseling is provided to students who want help with personal or academic problems. A school psychologist is also available to review educational testing and to make recommendations for students requiring testing. Counseling services are available on 24-hour call for emergencies.

Sports Medicine

Two full time athletic trainers, located adjacent to the J.R. Chandler Fitness Center, work closely with the medical staff to provide rehabilitive care for athletic injuries. The athletic training room is open from 1:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and from 11:30 a.m. until all home games are completed on Wednesday and Saturday during the fall and spring. During the winter athletic season, the athletic training room is open from 1:00 to 8:30 p.m. during the week.
