Financial Aid

The Hotchkiss School first opened its doors in 1891, and has since become an ambassador of education for the best and brightest. As a Connecticut private school offering tuition assistance, Hotchkiss is committed to helping students as they embark on their application and admissions journey.

We offer a private school calculator to help you measure tuition and supplemental costs, as well as generous financial aid packages. These financial aid awards meet 100% of a family's demonstrated need and do not include loans. We encourage families to use our easy online financial aid estimator to find out how accessible and affordable a Hotchkiss education can be for your family.

Financial Aid and Need-Based Scholarships

Each of our need-based financial aid scholarships is designed for various student profiles and offers a generous amount of aid. Scholarship recipients can include low income and first-generation students, children or grandchildren of Foreign Service Officers, local students and students from other states.

Browse our list of featured scholarships and explore which ones your family may be eligible to apply for. These financial aid opportunities are just one of many ways we work to make Hotchkiss accessible.

Visit our Financial Aid FAQs to answer any questions you may have about the financial aid process. These FAQs include information about financial aid application deadlines, fee waivers, application eligibility, merit-based scholarships and much more.

Financial Aid Statistics

Our goal is to make a Hotchkiss education affordable and accessible. We bring this vision to life each school year through scholarships, grants and financial aid assistance. In addition to more than $10 million in financial aid, we offer more than $300,000 in non-tuition support. This goes towards helping families with the cost of expenses such as books, school supplies, personal spending, travel assistance and health insurance.
