After a three-year hiatus, The Hotchkiss School is pleased to welcome back friends, neighbors, and the whole community to enjoy its annual summer series of world-class musical concerts—free and open to the public July 19 - 29. Whether for a pre-concert picnic at Hotchkiss or just to take in spectacular views of Lake Wononscopomuc and the southern Berkshire Mountains, visitors are invited to come early before enjoying performances inside the School’s renowned Katherine M. Elfers Hall, Esther Eastman Music Center. Picnic grounds open two hours prior to posted concert times.
The Hotchkiss Summer Portals program hosts gifted young pianists from around the world for intensive study with resident and guest artists. Students, mentored by a faculty of professional musicians, participate in weekly master classes and give free public performances.
This year, featured performers include pianists Leonel Morales and Leo de Maria opening the series on July 20, followed by the Frank Gala Concert featuring pianists Fabio and Gisele Witkowski along with violinist Ralph Evans, appearing July 22. Other pianists to perform are Michel Bourdoncle on July 24, and Oxana Yablonskaya on July 27. Please visit our website for full program information, including a schedule of concerts by student pianists, which includes an engagement at Carnegie Hall July 19.
The Hotchkiss School is located at 11 Interlaken Road, Lakeville, Connecticut. All concerts take place in Katherine M. Elfers Hall, Esther Eastman Music Center in the Main Building, which is air conditioned and handicapped accessible.
