The Hotchkiss Dramatic Association is pleased to present the musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, November 7 - 9 at 7:30 p.m. and November 10 at 2:30 p.m. in Walker Auditorium. The musical was originally produced in 2004 by the Berkshires area’s Barrington Stage Company, debuting in 2004.  It later moved off-Broadway, then Broadway, earning 6 Tony nominations in 2005, winning for Best Book and Best Featured Actor.

The Hotchkiss production will be directed by Marcus Olson, instructor in theatre. Olson says, “The show has a great book and terrific score along with a collection of quirky and lovable characters. Audience members become characters when we select 4 volunteers for each performance who participate in the Bee. Anything can happen; I think folks will have what is known in the theatre business as a ‘rollicking good time’!”

All performances take place in Walker Auditorium. Tickets are $10; $5 for students and seniors. Cash or check is accepted and patrons may buy tickets at the door; reservations are not necessary. Proceeds from the Sunday matinee performance will benefit the Housatonic Musical Theatre Society (HMTS).

Founded in 1891, The Hotchkiss School is a coeducational boarding school, located at 11 Interlaken Road in Lakeville, Connecticut. Walker Auditorium is located on the lower level of the Main Building. For more information on this and other arts events at The Hotchkiss School call 860-435-4423.
