Tremaine Gallery Presents 'The Oldest Living Things in the World' Acclaimed Photographs by Rachel Sussman - Jan. 23 - March 6

The Tremaine Gallery is pleased to present the exhibitionThe Oldest Living Things in the World, featuring photographs by Brooklyn artist Rachel Sussman. The exhibit will run January 23 - March 6. An artist reception will be held January 23, 4 - 6 p.m.

Ms. Sussman graduated from the School of Visual Arts in 1998 with a BFA in photography. She then pursued graduate work at Bard College in New York and Central Saint Martin’s in London. For more than a decade, she has been developing the critically acclaimed project The Oldest Living Things in the World, for which she researches, works with biologists, and travels around the world to photograph continuously living organisms 2,000 years old and older. Stewart Brand, editor of the Whole Earth Catalog and founder of the Long Now Foundation, calls her work “the missing science of biological longevity. She has received numerous awards, including a 2014 Guggenheim Fellowship, and has presented at TED, The Long Now Foundation, and UCLA, among other venues. She has also appeared on CNN, BBC, and several public radio programs. Her work has been exhibited in museums and galleries in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, while her photographs and writing have been featured in global media outlets including The New York Times,The Wall Street Journal,The Guardian, and NPR'’'s Picture Show.
