Studio Art Program
We believe art is an intellectual process accessible to all students. Our studio art program welcomes and emphasizes innovation, passion, and self-expression through the development of ideas and the pursuit of strong media and technical skills. We are committed to combining art historical research with the practice of studio art. Learning to take risks and being inventive in the process of making images and objects are central to our program. Individual and group critiques are an integral part of reflecting on process and defining and refining a personal vision. Through our learner centered curriculum, students develop meaningful and personal ideas and skills in pursuit of their artistic vision.
All Hotchkiss students have opportunities to study music, studio art, theatre, photography, film, related media, and dance, whether as a serious discipline or a new found interest.
