Claudia McGuigan
Claudia McGuigan joined the Hotchkiss community as a Walter Crain Fellow and mathematics instructor in 2021. In February 2022, she was named associate dean of faculty, and in July 2023 she assumed the role of associate dean of faculty for recruitment, retention, and evaluation. Before her arrival at Hotchkiss she worked at Westminster School, where she worked as an instructor, coach, advisor, and dorm supervisor. Prior to that, she taught at Watkinson School (Hartford, CT) and served as the associate director of equity and justice. Originally from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, U.K., Ms. McGuigan earned her B.A. in French and Spanish with International Marketing from the University of Northumbria. She also studied at the Université de Bourgogne in Dijon, France, earning a Licence in 2005. She holds an M.Ed. from the Teachers College at Columbia University and an MBA from the University of Connecticut. Beyond academics, Ms. McGuigan has a background in the performing arts and athletics. She was a senior principal dancer with the Alabama Contemporary Dance Company, a national championship-winning member of the Northstar Cheerleading Squad, and a guest performer with the Chuck Davis African-American Dance Company. She lives in Sharon, CT, with her husband Ryan, an attorney, and three of their five children.
