Gerardo Aguilar Molinari
Dr. Aguilar Molinari is from Alajuela in Costa Rica. However, he thinks more of himself as Central American. He studied Latin American literature for 12 consecutive years at the college level, but now hardly reads any literature because he is more into philosophy and anthropology. For the past years, he has been teaching in California and has developed a curriculum focused on the study of Amerindian societies, state violence in Latin America, and immigrant worker's rights. He has some experience with grassroots activism and is very interested in the intersection of radical politics with race and class in the United States.
Dr. Aguilar Molinari loves soccer, even though he is terribly disappointed with his team's performance in the Costa Rican national league. He has also coached two seasons of JV boys. He is passionate about jazz, new wave, and downtempo. A bit of an audiophile, he also enjoys the outdoors and has camped in several national parks in his native country (which are full of jaguars and crocodiles). Finally, he lives on campus with his wife Lauren, his son Leon, and Milo the cat.
