Tom Herold joined the faculty in 1999 after teaching English for many years at three other boarding schools in the U.S. At Hotchkiss, he teaches upper-level English classes and prep Humanities, serving also as advisor and dorm affiliate. From 2006-2014, Mr. Herold was class dean for the classes of 2010 and 2014. In addition, he has coached soccer and boys JV lacrosse; currently, he serves as assistant coach of boys varsity soccer. Mr. Herold earned his A.B. at Dartmouth College and advanced degrees from Middlebury (Bread Loaf School of English, M.A., 1993) and Columbia (Teachers College, M.Ed., 2005). In addition to working at Hotchkiss, Mr. Herold also teaches at Wolfeboro, a summer boarding school. He and his spouse, Jane Herold, Hotchkiss's study skills coordinator, live on campus with their children, George ’17, Leslie ’20, and Jack.
