Alumnae compete in Ultimate Frisbee national championships

Three Hotchkiss alumnae on two different teams will be vying for titles at this week's Ultimate Frisbee National Championships tournament.

Qxhna Titcomb '11 will be playing for the women's Seattle Riot team, coached by her sister Rohre Titcomb '05. And in the mixed division, Ellen Rim '08 will take the field for the San Francisco-based Mischief team at the event, which runs from Oct. 19-22.

Both divisions consist of 16 teams, broken into four pools of four teams each. The teams will play each other in a round-robin pool play round on Thursday, with the top three teams from each pool advancing to the championship round on Friday. The team with the best record in each pool will receive a bye to the quarterfinals.

Riot should be in good position to compete for the title, being ranked #1 overall in the field. At the U.S. Open tournament in August, the team went undefeated in pool play, but then was surprisingly upset by eventual champion Deportivo Revolution in the semifinals.

Rim's team Mischief will face a tougher draw, seeded #8 and slotted into the pool with overall #1 seed Seattle Mixtape, who won the U.S. Open tournament. Mischef finished seventh at the event.

This year the National Championships will be broadcast live online on the ESPN3 and ESPN Mobile App platforms. The Riot and Mischief pool play games at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday will both be available for streaming live, and then the championship bracket games will also be available as the teams progress through the tournament.
