Despite a depleted roster, girls varsity basketball overcame a slow start against Westminster to earn its third win of the season.
Captain Hannah Frater '17 and Gabbie Coffy '18 led the way, with 14 and 10 points respectively, as Hotchkiss blew past Westminster in the second half, outscoring them 28-22.
Both Harper Rosati '19 and Emma Smith '18 also played a large part in Hotchkiss's comeback with nine points each.
It was Westminster who started strongly and quickly gained a ten-point lead over Hotchkiss, 16-6. However, Coffy made a deep three midway through the half to start a Bearcat rally so that by the intermission, Hotchkiss had narrowed Westminster's lead to one point, 24-23.
Early in the second half, a three-pointer from Smith gave Hotchkiss a lead that they would never relinquish. Although Westminster kept it close, strong play from Frater preserved the win for the Bearcats, much to the delight of the sizable crowd.
Next, Hotchkiss will face Williston away on Saturday Jan. 21.
