Philosophy

Representing Hotchkiss Boys Soccer on the field means continuing a legacy of quality, talent, and work ethic. Our team is comprised of student athletes from all over the world and we compete at New England’s highest level.

The young men at Hotchkiss work exceedingly hard toward their goals of being strong students, athletes and men. Our team strives for success on and off the field through the emphasis of respect, responsibility, team unity and sportsmanship.

Developing strong student athletes is of utmost importance in our program. We accomplish this through reinforcing values such as positivity, inclusiveness, selflessness, respect towards others and grit.

Highlights

The boys soccer program has enjoyed considerable success in recent history, including three New England titles (2008, 2009, 2011), more than ten Founders League championships, and an undefeated Founders League season in 2014-2015

Facilities

The boys soccer program offers access to three playing fields, including a lighted turf field for most home games, and also provides an indoor turf facility for training in inclement weather. Other facilities include a fully-staffed weight room and training room, and an Olympic-sized swimming pool for low-impact water workouts. Players also can take advantage of a personal locker room, including team laundry services.

Biography:
Coach Thornhill was the assistant varsity soccer coach at Loomis Chaffee for five years prior to joining Hotchkiss. A 2005 graduate of Loomis, he was a three-sport varsity athlete (soccer, hockey and track), where he was named Athlete of The Year in 2004 and 2005. Coach Thornhill went on to St. Lawrence University and was a three-sport varsity athlete there (soccer, indoor track, outdoor track). He was a two-time Liberty League Athlete of the Year for track and field and the team’s MVP.
