Boys Track and Field
Philosophy
The Hotchkiss Track and Field program has been an integral part of our athletic department for many years. We compete at the Class A level, and are part of the Founders League and New England Private School Track Association. Each spring we participate in 10 meets, culminating with the New England Championship in May. In addition, our coaching staff gives our athletes the opportunity to compete in other major track and field events, including the Penn Relays.
At Hotchkiss, we are continuously looking to build on our strengths by seeking dedicated student-athletes who want to compete at the highest level. Our program prides itself with combining high academic standards and highly competitive athletics. The coaching staff also takes great pride in helping each member of the team develop into the best student-athlete and teammate during their time with the program.

Highlights
Hotchkiss boys have won the New England championship in 1995, 2007, 2009 and our team finished in the top three in 2014, 2015 and 2016. The team also frequently win the Founders League championship. The Bearcats were undefeated in the regular season, for 10 straight seasons - 1999 to 2009, and continue to earn wins at most meets, and regularly record undefeated seasons. Members of the team have been recognized as the most outstanding athlete of the championship meets. In addition, Hotchkiss has won the 4x100 and 4x400 at the Penn Relays in the prep school division.
Facilities
The Hemingway Track, a six-lane 400-meter and eight-lane 100-meter all-weather surface oval, is one of the finest facilities in New England. The unique shape of the running surface, which is called a broken back curve, is the same type of track that the world championships are held on each year. The facilities were completely renovated recently, with the addition of two new long jump polyurethane runways and pits, and the expansion of the high jump and pole vault areas. A state-of-the-art turf field was placed in the inner field.
The team uses Little Baker Field, an entire area dedicated for the throwing events (discus, javelin and shot put). This field is adjacent to the track and backs onto a beautiful pond and the golf course. In addition, we have an indoor track and a gym housed in the Forrest E. Mars, Jr. Athletic Complex.
