Girls Golf

At Hotchkiss, we strive to develop players who love the game of golf and play it with integrity. Whether you are just discovering the sport or competing in national tournaments, the Girls Varsity Golf team at Hotchkiss has a place for you to learn, contribute, and develop a game that will last the rest of your lives. The team promotes a positive environment where each individual’s results have a direct impact on the team’s ability to achieve its goals. We hope that our girls leave the program with a sense of accomplishment for the skills they have developed and the friendships that they have made, both on and off of the course.

While all sports offer opportunities for character growth and important life lessons, golf is unique in that it is the only sport where one calls penalties on oneself. Golf teaches the importance of integrity, and we strives to instill that lesson in our players.

For the last three years, the girls varsity golf team has become more competitive within an already strong league. In 2016, the Bearcats finished in third place at the Founders League Tournament. In 2017, the season record was 16-1-1, with a second-place finish in both the New England Tournament and Founders League Tournament. In 2018, the season record was 18-0-1, with a second-place finish for the New England Tournament and a third-place result at the Founders League Tournament. Members of our team have also competed in regional and national golf tournaments, including those hosted by the AJGA and USGA.

We are fortunate to have our own 9-hole course (3,043 yards, par 35) that circles the campus of the school and is closed to the public every afternoon during the school season. Designed by prominent golf course architect Seth Raynor, the Hotchkiss golf course was ranked 10th in Golfweek Magazine's "Best Places You Can Play" in Connecticut for 2016. Its undulating greens and moderate elevation changes provide a fun and appropriate challenge for our team members. We also have an indoor facility for practicing during inclement weather.
