In this article, you will find a collection of game summaries from our various athletic programs, as posted by the coaches, captains, and managers of those teams. Thanks again to all our coaches, athletes, and managers for their hard work on and off the field:
Boys Varsity Cross Country (4-2)
The boys varsity cross country team ran another fine race at Loomis on Oct. 5 against three quality opponents, edging out Taft 26-29 and falling 40-19 to Loomis at 33-22 to NMH. Head coach Pierre Yoo noted that Kostia Howard ’20 placed best for Hotchkiss in 7th place and Phil Warren ’23 improved his best time of the season by nearly 90 seconds.
Boys JV Cross Country (3-3)
At Loomis, the JV team also ran into some stiff competition, dropping its three races against Taft, NMH, and the home Pelicans. It was still a day of impressive individual improvement, and many Bearcats logged new best times, including Theo Evison ’23, who beat his previous best by nearly six minutes!
Girls Cross Country (2-2)
The girls’ results at Loomis mirrored the boys, besting the Rhinos and losing to NMH and Loomis. Kayla Uzwiak ’21 earned a personal best time and was best-placed for Hotchkiss at 9th overall. Head coach Anna Klimmek gave special kudos to Lucy Haswell ’20 and Zoe London ’21 for cutting their best times by nearly four minutes.
Boys Thirds Soccer (4-1)
It was another good week for boys thirds soccer, but the magical undefeated run came to a halt on Saturday with a tough 0-2 loss against visiting IMS. Earlier in the week, the Bearcats reversed the score and beat Rumsey Hall 2-0. Head coach Abdoulaye Fall gave credit to the team in the win for allowing only three shots in the entire game.
JV Volleyball (3-2)
The JV volleyball team battled hard but dropped a pair of decisions this week, 1-3 at Taft on Wednesday and 0-3 to GA at home on Saturday. Head coach Bill Fenton gave praise to Connie Cao ’21 for her play in the middle on Wednesday.
