Boys Basketball Keeps Rolling

The boys varsity basketball team kept on its winning ways with a three-game sweep of the holiday slate.

The Bearcats (7-0) punctuated the week with a 67-57 win over Andover on Dec. 18 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, home of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets.

“I am very proud of how the team is progressing defensively. We were able to beat a very talented and well-coached Andover team at Barclays,” said head coach Yassine Talhaoui. “The team remained composed after Andover made a strong run to tie the game in the second half. The team's energy (including the bench) was remarkable and contributed to the win.”

Talhaoui added that the players appreciated the opportunity to play in an arena normally reserved for college and professional teams. “It was wonderful to compete in such an incredible setting in front of so many alumni, families, and friends. I have no doubt that the scholar-athletes on the team will always remember this special experience,” he said.

The win was the third of the week for the Bearcats, who swept their two games at the BasketBull HoopsFest showcase event. On Dec. 15, the team enjoyed a dominant 65-42 win over the Canada Top Flight team, and then eked out a 52-51 win over Winchendon on Dec. 16.

The team returns to action on Jan. 10 with an away game at Millbrook.
