Boys Golf Wins Four of Six

Strong back-to-back efforts by the boys varsity golf team saw them earn wins against four of the six opponents they faced on Friday and Saturday.

The Bearcats (6-2) opened play on Saturday with a 208-211 victory over Kent. Leading the way for Hotchkiss were captain James Horrocks ’19 (39), Jack Kempczinski ’20 (40), and Jed Thomas ’19 (41).

On Saturday, the team squared off against Brunswick, South Kent, Salisbury, Canterbury, and T-P. With Horrocks, Kempczinski, and Thomas posting identical scores, the Bearcats were able to improve their score to 204, including a pair of 42s by Bryan Allen ’19 and Jacob Chui ’21.

The team’s score was good enough to beat Canterbury (204-231), South Kent (204-219), and T-P (204-245), but Hotchkiss was edged out by a single stroke by Salisbury (204-203). Brunswick was the big winner on the day, posting a 182 to sweep all four opponents.

Hotchkiss will be back in action on Saturday April 20 with a double-header against Choate and Hopkins.
