Boys Hockey Earns Top Honors

The boys varsity hockey team collected a trio of top individual awards from the New England Hockey Journal in recognition of the team’s stellar campaign this year.

Head coach Mike Traggio earned New England Prep Coach of the Year honors, Henry Wilder ’20 earned New England Prep Player of the Year honors, and Karsen Dorwart ’22 was named to the New England Prep All-Rookie Team in an article published on Mar. 23.

The awards come after a season that saw the Bearcats finish 18-6-2, their best record in a decade, and earn a #5 seed in the NEPSAC’s top tournament bracket.

“It was a really fun team to coach this season,” said Traggio. “I think all of the players should be proud of what they accomplished this season, and for the groundwork they laid for teams to come.”

Traggio was also quick to give credit to his eight seniors, noting that six of them had been with the team for at least three years, and giving special kudos to captains Wilder and Nick Traggio ’20.

Wilder produced a memorable season between the pipes for the Bearcats, collecting 540 saves over the course of 26 games. He finished the season with a .942 save percentage and a 1.69 goals against average, including five shutouts.
