Boys Soccer Ties Berkshire

by Aaron Tandatnick '22

The Hotchkiss boys varsity soccer team showed its resiliency on Sep. 20 against Berkshire, rallying from an 0-2 deficit in the first half to tie the game and preserve their unbeaten season.

Hotchkiss keeper Justin DiCarlo ‘22 had 13 saves in the game, including three in the final 20 minutes of the game. Although he did not score a goal, forward Mo Nuhu ‘23 still impacted the game, with three shots on goal and an assist.

Down 2-0 at halftime, Hotchkiss (2-0-1) rallied in the second half to tie the game. In the 49th minute, Hotchkiss forward Michael Leon ‘21 hit a solo goal after speeding past the nearest defender to get on the board.

The second goal for Hotchkiss came with 16:57 remaining when Nuhu assisted Federico Arengi Bentivolio ‘22 for the equalizer and final goal of the match.

The game went down to the wire, as each team had an opportunity for a late game goal. With 5:17 remaining, Berkshire missed a free kick just outside the box, which lead to a charge down the field by Hotchkiss. To end the charge, Hotchkiss missed a free kick of their own in the 87th minute.

The Hotchkiss boys varsity soccer team looks to stay undefeated in their upcoming game against Millbrook on Wednesday, Sep. 25.
