Boys Tennis Beats Westy

The boys varsity tennis team stayed hot with a 6-1 victory over Westminster on April 27.

The Bearcats (6-1) are on a six-match winning streak, having won their last four matches by a combined total of 27-1 after a second-place finish at this year’s Kingswood Invitational Tournament.

The match got off to a good start for Hotchkiss, who swept all three doubles matches. Jerry Qiao ’22 and Jared Leong ’23 won 8-5 at #1 doubles, followed by Luke Louchheim ’22 and Keith Matanachai ’22 winning 8-2 at #2 and Sahil Annamaneni ’24 and Xander Farrington ’24 winning 8-5 at #3.

In singles, Hotchkiss won five of six matches, including Louchheim at #2 (6-1, 6-2), Leong at #3 (6-0, 6-0), Matanachai at #4 (6-0, 6-1), Annamaneni at #5 (7-5, 6-3), and Farrington at #6 (6-0, 6-3).

The biggest drama of the day came for Matias Acevedo ’24 at #7, who dropped the first set 4-6 but then rallied to win the second set 6-1 and the tiebreaker 10-6.

Next up for the Bearcats is an away match at Berkshire on Saturday.
