Boys Tennis Wins SNETL

For the second consecutive time, the boys varsity tennis team are the SNETL tournament champions, winning the title at Taft on May 14.

Hotchkiss defended the title they captured in 2019, the last time that the tournament was staged. The Bearcats finished the event with 22 points, with only host Taft (19 pts.) within striking distance.

The event features six singles draws and three doubles draws, with each school earning one point for each match win. Hotchkiss provided a remarkably balanced effort throughout the day, winning three singles and two doubles draws, and earning at least one point in every draw.

Leading the way in singles for the Bearcats were Luke Louchheim ’22 at #2, Keith Matanachai ’22 at #3, and Matias Acevedo ’24 at #6, who each won their draws. Sahil Annamaneni ’24 at #4 and Xander Farrington ’24 at #5 each reached the finals of their draws, and Jared Leong ’23 won his opening match in the #1 draw.

In doubles, Farrington and Louchheim won at #2 and Annamaneni and Acevedo won at #3, adding six more points to the total for Hotchkiss. Leong and Matanachai reached the finals of the #1 draw.

Next up for the Bearcats after a midweek match against Choate is the year-end New England tennis tournament on May 21.
