The 12-5-1 Hotchkiss Varsity Golf team took two major wins against Kent and Salisbury on May 5th. The team came into the meet with two losses against Westminster and Avon, losing by just 10 strokes overall to each. However, the Bearcats managed to squeak out a 188-193 win against Kent and a 188-198 win against Salisbury. With strong tee shots and consistent putting, Hotchkiss managed to secure their team's lowest overall score in the season. The 188 score is just 7 strokes behind the Hotchkiss course record, set in 2021.
Alex Zhang ’24, a member of the team, said, “We played great as a team. It was one of the best performances we have had all season and I hope we can do the same next week.”
Up next, on May 13th, the team will try to even their record against Avon on the season in a four-team tournament against Canterbury, Trinity-Pawling. While they are all traditionally strong teams, the squad will try and continue to stay in their impressive form.
