Field Hockey, Girls Soccer Prepare for Playoffs

Two fall Hotchkiss teams prepare for quarterfinal playoff games on Wednesday, with both the field hockey and girls soccer teams hitting the road to start this year’s postseason.

For the field hockey team, the tournament gets off to a bang as the #7 Bearcats (9-3-1) travel to take on #2 Greenwich Academy (17-2-1). The game will be hosted by GA on Wednesday at 2:15 p.m.

The two archrivals have squared off many times in the postseason, with the most recent contest being a semifinal in 2017 won 3-0 by the Gators. The two teams tied 1-1 in their only meeting this season at Hotchkiss back on Sep. 28.

The winner of that game will take on the winner of the game between #3 Tabor and #6 Andover in a semifinal at The Rivers School on Saturday, with the championship on Sunday.

The girls soccer team makes its third straight postseason appearance, but will need to trek to Boston for its quarterfinal matchup. The #5 Bearcats (13-2-2) will play #4 Noble and Greenough (13-2-2) at Nobles on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. It will be the first meeting between the two teams this season.

If they beat Nobles, the Bearcats will travel to Deerfield on Saturday to face the winner of #1 Miss Porter’s and #8 Greenwich Academy, with the championship also on Sunday.
