With four goals from three seniors, the girls varsity soccer team stayed undefeated with a 4-2 victory over Greenwich Academy on Oct. 5.
Louisa Essuman '20 led all Bearcats with two goals scored. On one of her goals, Essuman was assisted by captain Sofia Weber ‘20, who also had a goal of her own. The final goal scorer for the Bearcats (5-0-2) was captain Sadie Gould ‘20.
The first half of the game saw four goals in the first 25 minutes. Essuman scored the first goal of the game in the fourth minute. Greenwich fired back with a goal of their own in the 15th minute, but a penalty kick by Weber allowed the Bearcats to regain the lead with 21:21 remaining in the half. The Bearcats were unable to enjoy this lead for long, as Greenwich hit a goal in the 25th minute, tying the game at 2-2 halfway through the contest.
In the 54th minute, Weber assisted Essuman for the leading goal of the second half. With 10:04 remaining in the game, Greenwich missed a potential equalizing free kick which led to a goal from Gould on the counterattack.
The Bearcats host Westminster on Oct. 9, where they look to remain unbeaten.
