Girls Swimming Eighth at New England Championships

The girls varsity swimming and diving team concluded their season with an eighth-place finish at this year’s New England championships, including top-three places in three events.

As with Founders, the event got off to a good start for the Bearcats on Wednesday with the diving championships. Hotchkiss concluded a spectacular season of diving with another set of strong finishes, led by Meera Kasturi ’22, who finished third with 382.80 points. Olivia King ’19 (eighth with 350.40 points) and Eden Oostenink ’20 (16th with 291.75 points) also scored for the Bearcats.

On Saturday, the swimmers had their turn. Jillian Cudney ’20 backed up her four wins at Founders with another set of high places, coming in third in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.91) and 100-yard freestyle (51.57).

She also swam on both freestyle relays, joining with Emily Bukowski ’22, Liz Williams ’19, and Auden Koetters ’22 to finish seventh in the 200-yard relay, and finishing sixth in the 400-yard relay with Koetters, Williams, and Abby Powell ’21.

Greenwich Academy dominated the field, winning with 409.5 points, nearly twice as much as runner-up Deerfield (228), who hosted the event.
