Girls Tennis Posts Third Straight Sweep

The girls varsity tennis team kept things rolling on Wednesday April 17 with a 9-0 victory over Berkshire, its third sweep in a row.

Despite having to play without injured Jennifer Li ’20, the Bearcats (3-1) were able to notch decisive wins in all three doubles matches and all six singles matches on the day.

The injury reshuffled the doubles lineup somewhat, with Grace Kennedy ’19 and Ginny Barnes ’19 moving up one spot to play at #1 doubles and recording an 8-4 win. The new pairings of Savannah Roberts ’19 & Meghana Annamaneni ’21 and Rena Peng ’22 & Tara Bhandari ’21 each won the next two doubles matches by the score of 8-1.

In singles, the Bearcats dropped a total of 12 games across all six matches, with wins from #1 Roberts (10-1), #2 Kennedy (10-1), #3 Barnes (10-2), #4 Annamaneni (10-0), #5 Peng (10-7), and #6 Bhandari (10-1).

Hotchkiss will be off this weekend and then home next week for a pair of matches, against Kent on Wednesday at 1:45 p.m., and against Deerfield on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
