The girls varsity tennis team concluded a dominant regular season with a second straight Founders League title, and will now enter the New England tournament as the #2 seed.
The Bearcats (15-1) rolled through the spring schedule, dropping only a narrow 5-4 loss at Andover. In all other matches, the team won at least seven individual matches, including seven 9-0 sweeps.
Amazingly, the team's performance in league play may have been even more impressive. In addition to going undefeated against other Founders League teams, the Bearcats only dropped two individual matches all season – one to Choate and one to Kingswood-Oxford. This is the fewest number of such losses in a league schedule in more than a decade.
The team will now prepare for the New England tournament this weekend, where the Bearcats enter as the #2 seed by virtue of that loss to Andover earlier in the season. The team will host Deerfield at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, and if they win, the Bearcats will host a semifinal match that afternoon at 3:00 p.m. against the winner of #3 Nobles vs. Exeter.
The other bracket features #1 Andover against Taft and #4 Groton against Milton.
The championship match will be Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
