On Friday the girls demonstrated their skill in a very dominant game against Deerfield. The girls went into the game with knowledge of their win from last year knowing that it would not be an extremely competitive game, however no one expected how much control the Bearcats would show against their opponent. Hotchkiss showed their skill over the opponent in the first period scoring 22 points compared to Deerfield's 13. The period was mainly spent on Deerfield's half of the court with Upper-mid Morgan Jenkins ’25 scoring 10 points and Angel Allen ’24 scoring 7.
The second period is where Hotchkiss really blew the game apart as they shut out Deerfield completely bringing their score up to 33 compared to Deerfield's 13. Hotchkiss was able to keep possession of the ball throughout the majority of the period and when Deerfield was able to gain possession the Bearcats made sure that they weren't able to do anything.
The second half of the game was similar to the first, Deerfield got a little more momentum however it did not take them far as they were only able to score 8 points compared to Hotchkiss’ 22. Right at the beginning of the period Hotchkiss scored 3 tin under a minute, raising the energy in the gym and making the game even more exciting.
The girls closed out the game strong, only letting Deerfield get 6 points in the last period as they expanded the gap to make the score 67-28. This win brought the Bearcats winning streak up to 5 games and they look to make it 6 in their game against Suffield.
