Hoffman ’16 Nominated for Callahan Award

Ryan Hoffman ’16 has been nominated by his Carnegie Mellon Ultimate team for the Callahan Award, the most prestigious individual award given annually to a male collegiate Ultimate player.

His team, named “Mr. Yuk”, announced the nomination on Twitter earlier this week along with the traditional promotional video (see below). The award winners will be announced in late May.

The team has enjoyed some national success during Hoffman’s time in Pittsburgh, including top-three finishes in the last two college regional tournaments. This season, the team sported a record of 4-7 and was ranked 75th nationally, according to the USAU website.

In addition to his collegiate play, Hoffman has also played for the AUDL Thunderbirds, a professional team in Pittsburgh, as well as Temper, a premier club team. In 2019, Temper qualified for the US club national championships.

At Hotchkiss, Hoffman was a three-year varsity player, serving as captain his senior year. He also earned the Ultimate Frisbee Award his senior year.
