The Hotchkiss School announces Katherine Bowie as the new head coach of varsity field hockey. In addition to her coaching role, Bowie will join the Admission and Financial Aid department as associate director of admission.

Bowie comes to Hotchkiss with a breadth of collegiate and independent school experience, most recently as the head field hockey coach at The Hill School in Pottstown, PA (2024-25). During her tenure at Hill, her teams captured an undefeated season (22-0) and PAISAA championship in 2024 and reached the PAISAA semifinal in 2025.

In addition to her time at Hill, she has held coaching, faculty, and program director roles at the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, PA; St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Austin, TX; Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, PA; Bates College in Lewiston, ME; Cedar Crest College in Allentown, PA; St. Margaret’s School in Tappahannock, VA; and for the Revolution Field Hockey and Coastal Field Hockey clubs.

A former Division I player at Siena College, Bowie earned conference and national all-academic honors. She holds a B.A. in religious studies with a minor in educational studies, biology, and Latin and an M.Ed. from St. Joesph’s College.

Hotchkiss field hockey recently earned a share of the Founders League title in 2024 and outright claim last season (2025). The Bearcats will aim to add to their deep championship history under Bowie.

Varsity field hockey has two scrimmages scheduled before their opening game of the 2026 season September 23 at Berkshire.

Bowie will be joined by her husband, Trey, and two children in Lakeville.
