Reed '18 Invited to USA Hockey Winter Camp

by Roger Wistar

Lindsay Reed ’18 took her next step towards becoming an Olympian, receiving an invitation to the upcoming USA Hockey Women’s Winter Training Camp.

The annual event, held this year in Michigan from Dec. 17-21, is billed as “an opportunity to help the top players prepare for upcoming international events, including the 2019 IIHF Women's World Championship,” according to the USA Hockey website.

In addition to Reed, the list of invitees includes 22 Olympians and 22 members of the team’s recent win at the 2018 Four Nations Cup. The majority (19) of the Olympians were on the squad that won the gold medal last winter in Pyeongchang.

There are 22 other active NCAA players besides Reed, who is in her freshman season at Harvard. Reed has already attracted national attention for her play with the Crimson, and currently ranks second nationally with a .958 save percentage.

International success is nothing new for Reed, who is a two-time winner of the IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championships in 2018 and 2017.

At Hotchkiss, she earned four varsity letters each in both field hockey and ice hockey, serving as captain of both teams her senior year. She was a three-time winner of the Melissa Goss Simonds ’79 Hockey Award, and received the Carole S. Hawley ’75 Award and the Girls’ Senior Athletic Award as a senior.
