Rim '08, Titcomb '11 Compete in FlameThrowers Cup

by Roger Wistar

Two fellow alumnae of the Ultimate Frisbee program recently squared off as opponents, with Ellen Rim '08 and Qxhna Titcomb '11 playing each other in pair of exhibition games for the American Ultimate Disc League.

The series featured mixed teams, which include both men and women. Rim plays for the San Francisco FlameThrowers and Titcomb plays for the Seattle Cascades, a team that she founded with her siblings, Zahlen '00, Xtehn '01, Vehro '03, and Rohre '05.

Since its founding in 2012, the AUDL has grown to include 23 teams spread out over four nationwide divisions that crisscross the United States and Canada. Both the FlameThrowers and Cascades play in the West Division.

After playing once last year, the two teams met in 2018 for the second time in a pair of mixed games known as the Cascades Cup and the FlameThrowers Cup, respectively. Each team won on the other team's home field, with the Cascades winning 22-20 on May 26 and the FlameThrowers winning 23-21 on June 9.

Both teams will play regular season games through the middle of July, with the possibility of qualifying for a championship series against the top teams from the other three divisions. The FlameThrowers (4-5) and Cascades (2-6) will need to get some help to qualify for the postseason, however, as both currently trail the division-leading Los Angeles Aviators (7-2).
