The rowing program achieved another milestone in its early development, competing this year for the first time at the US Rowing Youth National Regatta.
Representing Hotchkiss in the Mens Youth 4+ division were Nani Veluchamy ’22 (bow), Carter Levine ’22 (2), Cyrus Farman-Farmaian ’21 (3), and Julian Leonhardt ’21 (stroke), with Ella Huang ’21 at coxswain.
The team competed twice at the event, held June 10-13 in Sarasota, FL. In the time trial held on Thursday, the Bearcats recorded a time of 6:27.964, good for 25th place overall out of 47 boats.
On Saturday, the team competed in the D final, finishing fourth of seven boats with a time of 6:59.182. Times on Saturday were slower for all teams because there was not the same strong tailwind the racers enjoyed on Thursday.
“It was huge for us to compete at nationals this year. These five student-athletes have made history for Hotchkiss and I’m so proud of them,” said head coach Victoria McGee.
