By Aaron Tandatnick '22

With less than three minutes remaining, Fati Salifu '22 nailed a game-winning goal to push the girls varsity soccer team past Taft 2-1 on Taft Day.

Early in the first half, each team had a number of chances to get on the board, but neither could capitalize. In the 22nd minute, Taft broke the seal with the first goal of the game. The Bearcats (13-2-2) followed suit four minutes later, when Louisa Essuman '20 found Gigi Day '22 for the equalizer.

In the second half, each team displayed defensive prowess, with five shots total between the two sides. The last ten minutes of the game featured quickly-developed offensive sets from both sides. In the 78th minute, Salifu scored the game-winner off of a rebound in a crowded box.

With the win over Taft, the Bearcats are slated to face off as the #5 seed at #4 Noble and Greenough in the New England championship quarterfinals on Wednesday.
