Senior Tributes: Girls Basketball

In recognition of the contributions our graduating seniors have made to our athletic programs, we offer these tributes from our coaches and some of our upper mids on each varsity team:

Ella Anthony: Despite having only been here for one year, Ella has made a tremendous impact on the team.  She is, by far, the best skill player on the team.  Her outside shot is absolutely deadly and her dribbling ability is mesmerizing as well as her ability to finish around the basket.  As good as she is offensively, she may be a better defensive player.  She has a nose for the ball and a knack for stealing it, even from the best of players.  Her cheerfulness and leadership are two attributes that really stand out.  I am so impressed by her willingness to bring inexperienced players along.  If we had a real season I have no doubt that she would have been an all conference player, perhaps the MVP of the entire conference.  I am so glad Ella chose to spend this year with us! (Head Coach Mike Hickey)

It's her first-year part of the team and she's already helped improve the overall team atmosphere and play. She always eager to play and can be a great coach or second pair of eyes on the floor! (Jordyn Harrison '22)

Madison Bighorn: Unfortunately Madison couldn’t be with us during the first semester. However, we have been thrilled to have her for the short time she has been here.  Madi has a sweet spirit with a very high basketball IQ, and she is extremely teachable.  I have been very impressed with how quickly she has picked up both individual skills as well as the team offense.  Madi is a strong inside player with one of the best outside shots on the team.  She, undoubtedly, would have made a huge impact on the league and most definitely would have been a starting player on a very talented team. (Hickey)

Holly Knight: Holly has been a four-year very competitive player on both the varsity basketball and lacrosse teams.  Her strong physical frame along with the toughness she brings from lacrosse make her a very difficult assignment for any defensive competitor.  She is universally known as the smartest player on the team.  Hence, she picks things up quickly and is like having a coach on the court.  There is little doubt in my mind that she would make an outstanding coach in the future.  Her sweet left-handed jump shot and strong drives to the basket give the team give the team the kind of versatility that every coach loves.  She will be greatly missed. (Hickey)

She has tremendous athleticism and is always able to fill in wherever needed. She's been my teammate for the past three years in two different seasons, so I will definitely miss our walks to and from practice! (Harrison)
