Senior Tributes: Girls Lacrosse

In recognition of the contributions our graduating seniors have made to our athletic programs, we offer these tributes from our coaches and some of our upper mids on each varsity team:

Ivy Bhandari - Ivy has a wonderful smile, an enthusiastic attitude and a gigantic presence on the field.  She has a very strong lacrosse IQ and can defend one on one against the best of the best. Ivy can outrun, out compete and outsmart!  She quarterbacked our defense brilliantly this season.  She led with grit and grace, always appreciating the fact that we "get to" play this game.   I will miss her positive attitude and incredible ability to be present. (Head Coach Anna Traggio)

Alexandra Bowman - Alexandra has grown to be an incredibly beautiful player to watch.  She has a fluid, deceptive stick, nice vision and a fierce re-defend.  Her determination to succeed and support of her teammates created a quiet expectation that raised the level everyday. Her leadership this year was an integral part of our success.  I have loved watching her blossom.  I will miss her pure joy and appreciation to be able to play. (Traggio)

Nia Butler - Nia always walks onto the field with a smile and a giggle, cheering for her teammates at every turn.  Her compete level is high, her ability to battle for a ground ball is unmatched and her defense is fierce.  She helped lead this team to a terrific season with wonderful joy.  I will miss her always positive energy in the huddle. (Traggio)

Lainey Colby - Although this was Lainey's first year as a girls' varsity lacrosse player she fit right in with a solid work ethic, a smile on her face and a beautiful gazelle-like run.   She battled injuries keeping out for the majority of the season but when she was on the field, she competed and proved to be a wonderful addition to the team.  I will miss her positive energy. (Traggio)

Grace Helm - Grace has worked hard to become a solid attacker.  She started the season with a bang but unfortunately an injury sidelined her midseason leaving us all to wonder what she could have accomplished. Regardless, she came to every practice, supported her teammates and participated in as much as she could.  Grace is determined, dependable, a wonderful athlete and a joy to coach. I will miss her forever positive attitude. (Traggio)

Holly Knight - Holly worked very hard during her tenure at Hotchkiss which culminated in a terrific 2021 season on and off the field.  She always arrived on Downing ready for practice with a smile and "let's do this" attitude.  She was not only a solid attacker but a consistent, generous and inclusive leader.  I will miss her beautiful joy of playing the game. (Traggio)
