Both the boys and girls swim teams won their first meet after Long Winter Weekend in convincing fashion over visiting Kent on Feb. 12.
The girls varsity (2-3) beat the Lions 98-72, and the boys (3-2) won by nearly as large a margin with a final total of 96-79.
Although the girls team won fewer events than the boys, their depth earned more points, finishing in the top two in the 200 IM relay, 200-yd. freestyle, 50-yd. freestyle, 100-yd. freestyle, 200-yd. freestyle relay, 50-yd. backstroke, and 50-yd. butterfly.
Even more impressively, the girls swept the top three places in diving (Meera Kasturi ’22, Eden Oostenink ’20, and Grace Helm ’21) and the 500-yd. freestyle (Elise Nam ’20, Ella Mohanram ’20, and Abby Renger ’23).
The boys produced similarly strong results, with top-two finishes in the 200 IM relay, 200-yd. freestyle, 50-yd. freestyle, 100-yd. freestyle, and 50-yd. breaststroke. The boys also swept the top three places in the 50-yd. backstroke (Leo Poggi ’20, Chris Tolis ’21, and Samarth Puthanmadhom ’22) and 200-yd. IM (James Yae ’23, Royce Shey ’21, and Tolis).
Both teams will have a tri-meet against NMH and Deerfield on Saturday.
