Hotchkiss Track and Field Competes at New Balance Nationals Outdoor

What a fantastic way to end the track and field season with five representatives from the Hotchkiss School competing in the 2023 New Balance Nationals Outdoor, hosted at the University of Pennsylvania's Franklin Field on June 15-18.

The 2023 New Balance Nationals Outdoor is a highly anticipated athletic event bringing together some of the most talented high school track and field athletes from across the country. The competition aims to showcase their skills and provide a platform for them to demonstrate their abilities.

The event features a wide range of track and field events, including sprints, hurdles, middle and long-distance races, relays, jumps, throws, and pole vault. Athletes compete in various age categories and are grouped based on their respective disciplines and gender.

The 2023 New Balance Nationals Outdoor drew a large number of participants, with hundreds of individual athletes and numerous teams from different schools and clubs taking part. The exact number of athletes and teams can vary from year to year, but the event typically attracts a significant turnout, including both renowned athletes and rising stars.

In the Boys 1 Mile Run Freshman, Copeland Rollins ’26 placed 4th in his heat with a time of 4:38.02.

In the Girls 4x400 Meter Relay Rising Stars, Julia Widen ’24 Quinn Pollack ’25 Anji Ashaye ’24 Christa Prasertsintanah ’23 ran a season 2nd best time of 4:04.37. 

 

The competition provides an exciting atmosphere, with athletes pushing their limits and aiming for personal bests, while also contending for medals and team titles. The event serves as a platform for athletes to showcase their talents to college recruiters and potentially earn scholarships for furthering their education and athletic careers.
