Facing off against Ethel Walker on Sep. 28, the Hotchkiss varsity volleyball team pleased the home crowd by winning the first three sets en route to a 3-0 sweep.
Leading the way for Hotchkiss (4-2) was Harper Pertchick '20, who had a total of 18 kills and two aces. Kate McCormick '23 also notched seven kills.
In the first set, the Bearcats won 25-16, ending on four straight kills by Pertchick, who had six in the set.
In the second set, strong performances from McCormick and Alaina Colby ‘21www allowed the Bearcats to win 25-14 and take a 2-0 lead in the match.
The third set ended with the Bearcats on top, outscoring Ethel Walker 25-6. The set and the game ended with a 7-0 run, with team captain Maggie Ottenbreit ‘20 serving. Another Hotchkiss run in this set took the Bearcats from a score of 6-4 to 18-4 with Pertchick serving the ball.
The following contest for the Bearcats is on Oct. 2, where they play Taft on the road.
