Instructions for Submitting Names & Faces and ID Card Photos

Head of School Craig W. Bradley

Please send a print-quality, head-and-shoulders photo of your student by June 1 for Names & Faces, the Hotchkiss student directory, and the Hotchkiss student identification card.

The photo at left is an example of the actual size. This is why focusing on the face is important; we need to see detail on the ID card and in Names & Faces.

Photograph Guidelines

  • We ask that photos be submitted via email (see instructions below to submit a digital photo). However, you may also mail print photos to the Communications Office. Photos submitted by mail become the property of the School and will not be returned.
  • We must receive your student’s photo by June 1.

To Submit a Digital Photograph

  • When shooting your own photo, adjust your camera settings to take photographs at the highest resolution or best quality possible. Settings may range from 72 to 300 pixels per inch (ppi) or higher. A 72 ppi image may look fine on a computer monitor, but 300 ppi is the minimum resolution required for printed images.
  • We suggest taking the photo with your smartphone. The camera is excellent, the resolution is very high, and it's easy to simply email the photo directly from your phone.

Thank you for your timely assistance in this matter.

If you have any questions, please contact Danielle Sinclair in the Communications Office at (860) 435-3201.
